For all those who had hoped that Section 13, the state censorship provision of Canada's federal "human rights" code, was dead and buried, the bad news is that it's been resurrected. Sort of. Maybe. Not really.
Perplexingly, a federal court has ruled that, yes, state censorship as adjudicated by a Canadian kangaroo "human rights" court is constitutional but that, no, compelling the pre-guilty to fork over moolah to the aggrieved is not constitutionally kosher.
Okay, now I'm really confused.
Pundita weighs in on the ruling, while a certain reputed head-"human-rights"-commissar-in-waiting (who, like singer Alanis, doesn't understand the meaning of "ironic") gloats about the decree.
