"Here Is the Shahada, the Islamic Statement of Faith, Written in Arabic...Try Copying It By Hand

It is claimed that that's nothing more than "a standard homework assignment on Islam," but some parents in a Virginia county weren't buying it (I'm with them), and schools were shut down as a result.

Okay, maybe the reaction was a bit much--why shut down schools?; why not just change/chuck the problematic lesson? But there's nothing "standard" about compelling non-Muslim kids to copy the shahada.

Islamist: yes.

"Standard": not really.

Not unless your "standard" is being set by, say, CAIR.
