It is claimed that that's nothing more than "a standard homework assignment on Islam," but some parents in a Virginia county weren't buying it (I'm with them), and schools were shut down as a result.
Okay, maybe the reaction was a bit much--why shut down schools?; why not just change/chuck the problematic lesson? But there's nothing "standard" about compelling non-Muslim kids to copy the shahada.
Islamist: yes.
"Standard": not really.
Not unless your "standard" is being set by, say, CAIR.
