Question Of The Day
What dumbass(es) thought it would be a good idea for Turkey (formerly secular; currently backsliding into Islam) to be part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization? The North Atlantic Treaty Organization! Could someone please get out an atlas and show me what part of the "north Atlantic" Turkey is from?

Turkey was admitted for several political reasons. One being that Greece was admitted at the same time. As well at the time they were still being ruled by Ataturks followers and they controlled the main strait to the Black Sea that was still mostly controlled by the Soviet Union. These days the need for them in NATO are largely irrelevant.
