The Definition (and the Height of) Madness

This is:
"TSA is in the process of implementing new pat-down procedures at checkpoints nationwide as one of our many layers of security to keep the traveling public safe. Pat-downs are one important tool to help TSA detect hidden and dangerous items such as explosives. Passengers should continue to expect an unpredictable mix of security layers that include explosives trace detection, advanced imaging technology, canine teams, among others."
Wasting an untold amount of money and time on invasive, unpleasant and ineffective security play-acting; needlessly subjecting all and sundry to the same level of scrutiny; failing to screen checked luggage (you just know the next airplane terrorism attempt will involve an undetectable suitcase bomb): the terrorists have indeed won. They've caused us to renounce any semblance of common sense.

Update: Some common sense about "profiling".
