A Darker, "Grittier" Anne of Green Gables? Er, No Thanks

Courtesy the National Post we learn today that a beloved Canadian is about to get a drastic makeover:
She wrote Ozymandias, the interminably dark betrayal-laden opus of the series Breaking Bad. Then she created Flesh and Bone, a series about the shadowy, dysfunctional backstage world of the ballet.
And now, Vancouver-born writer Moira Walley-Beckett has been set to drafting a gritty reboot of Anne of Green Gables for CBC...
What's next? The Littlest Hobo gets rabies? The Beachcombers turned into an LGBT romance between the Bruno Gerussi character and Relic?

Little Jihad on the Prairies?
