Israel Rejects Claim of "Unbiased" Study (Hillary's State Dep't Had a Big Hand In It) That Concluded Jew-Hate/Zionhass in Palestinian Text Books Is No Biggie and that When It Comes to By-the-Book Hatred, the Israelis are Just as Bad

Israel’s Education Ministry has rejected the findings of a State Department-funded study that determined Palestinian textbooks do not incite hatred against Israel and that both sides use textbooks to distort the national narrative.
In a press release the Education Ministry said, “An evaluation, by professionals from the Education Ministry and from outside it, [shows...]that it is biased, unprofessional and profoundly unobjective.”
The Education Ministry further stated: “The clear impression is that this is a ‘study’ the conclusions of which were known in advance, before any professional work was done, and certainly does not accurately reflect the reality.
“The attempt to create a parallel between the Israeli and Palestinian educational systems is without any foundation whatsoever and has no basis in reality.”
The study took several years and was carried out and overseen by a team of American, Israeli, Palestinian Arab and international education experts. It was commissioned by the Council of Religious Institutions of the Holy Land, a consortium of Muslim, Jewish, and Christian leaders in Israel, and received nearly $600,000 in funding from the U.S. State Department.
The study examined 94 books from Palestinian school systems in Gaza and the West Bank, and 74 books from the Israeli secular and religious school systems.
The results counter Israel’s longstanding claim that Palestinian Arab educational tools incite children towards hatred of the Jewish state. During his Israeli election campaign Yesh Atid’s Yair Lapid even made mention of the issue, saying it was one that would need to be addressed...

Hagel a Beneficiary of Selfish Axe-Grinders
Whassup with the support for Chuck Hagel, an embarrassing hack (to call him mediocre is to insult the those who manage to scale the middles and actually achieve mediocrity), a chap who's clearly out of his depth, a political operative who possesses neither the skills nor the smarts to be handed the keys to the Pentagon? As Michael Rubin 'splains, the defense of Hagel says more about the defenders than it does about the chap they're defending. Hagel champions, says Rubin, have a pronounced animus toward a certain group that has clouded their judgment such that they have placed their own interests ahead of those of the nation:
During the Cold War, there were communists, anti-communists, and anti-anti-communists who were much less concerned about the reality of the Soviet Union than about stymying those who were opposed to Moscow. Likewise, in the aftermath of 9/11, there were terrorists, anti-terrorists and, within progressive circles, anti-anti-terrorists who were more consumed with Bush Derangement Syndrome than with Hamas, Hezbollah, and al-Qaeda. Their rhetoric was marked by sky-is-falling hyperbole regarding Gitmo, the Patriot Act, and Dick Cheney.
Much of Hagel’s support is rooted in the same trend. Many of those signing letters and penning op-eds supporting Hagel make no secret that their concern is less Hagel than an obsession about neoconservatives. Colin Powell, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Peter Beinart, and the good folks at Think Progress may cast aside Hagel’s Neanderthal approach to social issues and they may genuinely think that there is more room for diplomacy with Tehran. There are many competent Democrats and even some Republicans who might agree with them. But to rally around Chuck Hagel was to embrace an incompetence that does not belong in the Pentagon—or at the top of any executive agency—at such troubled times. No one should sacrifice U.S. national security because they have a political axe to grind.Update: Hagel may be--is--stupid. But he's someone stupid who does not like Israel, no, not even a little. Were he to before Secretary of Defense (and it appears he will), that makes him stupid in a very dangerous way.

The chaotic conditions of several of the countries of the "Arab Spring" are certainly something al Qaeda views as an opportunity. Ayman al-Zawahiri the leader of the group, has issued 27 audio and video statements since the death of bin Laden, 10 of which have focused on the Arab countries that have experienced the revolutions of the past two years.
But if history is a guide, the jihadist militants, whether in Syria or elsewhere, are likely to repeat the mistakes and failures that their fellow militants have experienced during the past decade in countries as disparate as Somalia, the Philippines, Yemen, Iraq, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and now, Mali.
That's because encoded in the DNA of al Qaeda and like-minded groups are the seeds of their own destruction because in power they rule like the Taliban, and they also attack fellow Muslims who don't follow their dictates to the letter. This doesn't mesh very well with these organizations' claims that they are the defenders of Muslims.
These groups also have no real plans for the multiple political and economic problems that beset much of the Islamic world. And they won't engage in normal politics such as elections believing them to be "un-Islamic."
If history's a guide, Bergen's a dolt.This is invariably a recipe for irrelevance or defeat. In not one nation in the Muslim world since 9/11 has a jihadist militant group seized control of a country. And al Qaeda and its allies' record of effective attacks in the West has been non-existent since 2005.
