We get it, Obama. We get that you don’t like us for deep ideological reasons. We got it last summer when you took the wrong side during our conflict with Hamas in Gaza, and on so many other occasions since you became president. We get it that you want to see us with indefensible borders surrounded by enemies armed to the teeth by Iran with money that you provided as part of your nuclear deal.

We understand that your sympathies lie with the Muslim world, not with the ‘colonialist’ West, which you view as the root of evil in the world. We understand how your intellectual laziness and ignorance led you to accept the anti-Western post-colonial worldview overall and the ‘Palestinian’ narrative in particular. You heard it from your mentors Edward Said and Rashid Khalidi, among others, and you didn’t have the tools to distinguish fact from falsehood. 

Actually, while this is a problem for us, it is a much bigger problem for the people of America, who are nervous about your apparent anti-Americanism and your uncomfortable closeness to Islam, who don’t trust Iran and don’t see how the deal you made is going to keep the terror-supporting regime from getting nuclear weapons. 

But you don’t know how to play it smart. Maybe you could have fooled us at one point — you certainly fooled many Americans, and continue to fool the ones that have been seduced by the syrupy cult of personality that your sycophants have built around you. But stupid moves like this one give you away. 

Israel doesn’t trust you. We know what you are. We are well acquainted — both the Jewish people and the leadership of the state of Israel — with those that despise us. We have a history of thousands of years of dealing with your kind. Unlike you, our PM has studied history, not just ideology. We know better than to accept your assurances or believe your promises. 

Israel will take the steps it needs to take to protect herself despite your attempts to prevent her from doing so. And I hope that a future American president will strengthen the relationship between two peoples that love freedom and democracy that you have worked so hard to tear apart.

If that future president is Hillary Clinton, I wouldn't bet on it.

Aaron David Miller, an American "peacemaker" who for 20 years sought in vain to get Israel to give up the Golan Heights as part of a "peace" deal, has decided that it's a good thing he didn't succeed. Miller writes:

[It] can be said with certainty . . . that had Israel given up the Golan, the situation today would have been much more complex. In response to the Syrian civil war and the rise of Islamic State, Israel would have faced a hot front, confronting Hizballah, Iran, and a range of Islamist jihadists. Given the Golan’s strategic importance, Israel would have had to reoccupy it and would have found itself in the middle of Syria’s civil war. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Israel’s actions would have been a unifying factor and might have actually bucked up the Assad regime as it tried to rally Syrians against the “Zionist enemy.”

Mosaic magazine calls Miller's about-face "a cautionary tale for well-intentioned U.S. and Israeli peacemakers alike."

True enough, but I don't expect most well-intentioned peacemakers to take it that way because they value "peace" at any cost/Peace in Our Time in our time/Peace Now above any other consideration, including Israel's survival.

Think I'll skip this one--the movie version of Naomi Klein's latest anti-capitalism screed:

The film itself—billed as a “documentary”—is a ho-hum 90-minute foray into climate change victimhood that, if not for Klein’s cult following, would be forgotten the day it came out. But Klein is a leftist rock star and an architect of the burgeoning fossil fuel divestment campaign. The film is constructed to feed her fandom. The comic movie Mr. Bean’s Holiday climaxes when Mr. Bean accidently interrupts a film, Playback Time: A Carson Clay Film, that is directed by, produced by, acted in, and written about the narcissistic Carson Clay. Klein’s film is something similar. It is produced by Klein Lewis Productions, filmed and edited by Klein’s husband Avi Lewis, narrated in first person by Klein, and generously sprinkled with shots of Klein cradling a Canadian Indian child, talking to activists in the developing world, or gazing solemnly on a trash dump while wind whips her hair about her face.

Sounds ghastly.  

And tailor-made for the CBC.

Emboldened Khamenei Craps All Over (and Rejects Any Further) Jaw-Jaw With Great Satan

Here's someone who needs to be taken down a notch or two, or taken out entirely, not make to feel even more puissant than ever:

TEHRAN — Iran’s highest leader repeated warnings on Wednesday against further negotiations with the United States after the nuclear agreement the countries reached in July. Such talks are “forbidden,” the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, told an audience of Revolutionary Guards commanders. 

Iran’s leader, widely seen as both the architect and arbitrator of the agreement, also offered veiled criticism of Iran’s nuclear negotiating team, saying that its members had been alert, but that the opposite parties “had found chances” and made “damaging moves against Iran’s national interests” in the talks. He did not elaborate. 

Ever since the deal was concluded, Ayatollah Khamenei has given speeches against additional cooperation with the United States, arguing that the country is aiming to infiltrate Iran through negotiations. 

“An important part of the activities of the enemy is to change the calculations of officials and to manipulate people’s revolutionary and religious thoughts,” he said on Wednesday. “Young people are the main target, and they must be alert.”

It's too bad those imbeciles Obama and Kerry weren't alert to the supreme leader's Manichean Mahdi madness when they signed off on the catastrophic nuke deal.

Canadian Jewish News Writer Defends the Niqab--In the Name of Freedom

(Here's my latest for The Megaphone.)

A "Guest Voice" in the Canadian Jewish News — she’s a freelancer named Danielle Kubes — frets the au courant issue of wearing the niqab during the Citizenship Ceremony and what it betokens for Canadian Jews.

Kubes writes:

Those who fear that Ishaq's niqab represents a culture so contrary to ours that cannot they cannot coexist, that if we cannot protect our borders from the danger of her veil, we must as least insulate our most sacred institutions, should recall that this fear is identical to the one Jews were subjected to...The hysteria is familiar and tiresome.

Be assured that if we allow this fear to aim its arrow at Ishaq's dress, the archer's bow will soon be spun around to face us.

Be assured that it won't.

Be assured that, in fact, Ishaq's dress is a big problem, especially for Jews, because, as anyone who has ever experienced the hysteria -- the frenzy -- of an Al Quds Day at Toronto's Queen's Park can tell you, the more Khomeinists and by-the-book Muslims dressed in their colourful (and not so colourful) local garb we import from Zion-despising lands, the worse off the Jews will be.

Or has the "Guest Voice" not heard about what's been happening over in France?

What I find tiresome is the prospect of radical Muslims getting a pass by virtue of age-old canards and aspersions aimed at Jewry.

As if, just because Jews and their doctrines are harmless and blameless, all Muslims and every bit of Islam must be too.

As if there's no jihad or sharia. No beheadings inspired by Muhammed's precedent. No neo-Caliphate taking shape on lands ceded to ISIS in the Middle East. No grandiose Ayatollah promising to obliterate Israel. No "Allahu Akbar!" followed by an infrastructure-shattering "kaboom!"
 
The CJN "Guest Voice” concludes by saying:

When we support Ishaq's freedom, we support our own. And if we do not fight for Ishaq, who will be left to fight for us?

I hate to be the one to break it to the niqab champion (not really; I'm actually delighted to be the one to do it), but the truth is that Ishaq and her ilk will never fight for us and our freedom.

Ishaq is taking advantage of the freedoms we afford our immigrants in order to bring a little piece of her civilization's darkness to our shores.

That being so, it isn't Ishaq and her niqab that scare me. What scares me are tender-hearted, loud-mouthed "progressives" who know squat about the real world and the civilizational challenges we face, but who are convinced that they and they alone have it all figured out.

You know -- people like Barack Obama. They're the ones who are truly terrifying, not the least because of the very real damage they can do.

Ishaq can, if she so chooses, take off her veil. But there is no removing the niqab of the mind -- in other words, the worldview -- that afflicts and that blinds most "progressives.”
