Steyn Eviscerates French Gasbag Hollande for His Idiotic Vimy Ridge Remarks
Steyn takes on the French prez, who insists that a hundred years ago, Canadians by the thousands fought and died at Vimy for the sake of...Syrian refugees and the Paris climate change conference?!?

Baffled? By "intersectionality" and the pecking order of victim groups?

Iran's Once and Future President?
He's ba-ack!

(Do you get the feeling that he only went away for a while because the likelihood of the U.S. signing that nuke agreement while he was still around was next to zilch?)

Old Shrew Now Writing for "New" Arabs
Whatever happened to Antonia Zerbisias, a "progressive" Israel-basher who used to write for the Toronto Star?
If you're like me, that's a question that either never occurred to you, or one to which you'd be inclined to respond, "Who cares?"
And if a friend hadn't sent me a link to this article on a U.K.-based Arab website, I might have gone the rest of my life without once thinking about--much less missing--Anton-ee-ah (emphasis on the wrong syllable).
Now we know that she has tossed up at something called The New Arab. (The obvious quip: "The New Arab." Same as the old Arab.)
I think we can all agree that it's the perfect place for a writer of her bent.

Malala TĂȘte
It would be nice to know how the Nobel Peace Prize winner, who is currently being feted in Ottawa (where she's addressing Parliament and has been made an honourary Canadian citizen) can reconcile championing the rights and education of women and, at the same time, donating $50,000 to UNRWA, a UN racket with links to women-oppressing Hamas.

FYI: I'm Taking a Break for Passover
With Passover looming, and all that that entails, I'll be out of commission, blogging-wise, for the next few days. In the meantime, here's a seasonal song (with apologies to J. Mitchell):
It's comin' on Pesach,
They're selling macaroons.
They're scrubbing out their cupboards
And counting out their spoons.
Oh, I wish I had a hotel
That I could run away to.
But the seder's here.
Eighteen people in all.
Gotta whip up some charoset,
Make another matzoh ball.
Oh, I wish I had a hotel
That I could run away to.
I wish I had a hotel so nice.
I would relax in paradise.
I wish I had a hotel I could run away to
And maybe stay eight days...

Alleged Comedian Sarah Silverman Uses Occasion of Passover to Bash "The Occupation"
So this happened:
By the Jews.
Or what part of "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" don't you understand, Ms. S.?

Sarah Silverman has used her contribution to a new Haggadah to criticise Israel's continued presence in the West Bank.
“Oppression will always prove to be on the wrong side of history”, she writes.
The American comedian is one of 30 authors, artists and Jewish thinkers who contributed to a new Jubilee Haggadah which has been published to mark the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War when Israel captured the West Bank.
The project was created by a group called SISO – “Save Israel. Stop the Occupation” - and features diaspora leaders who are calling for an end to the occupation. It was also supported by the New Israel Fund.
“Of all the people, Jews know the bitterness of being oppressed and not being in our own country”, Ms Silverman writes. “That’s what makes the occupation all so ironic. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between right and wrong, the situation is complicated and scary.”Useful idiocy will always prove to be on the wrong side of history, including the idiocy of "progressive" Jews like Sarah who haven't twigged to the fact that when Palestinians talk about "the occupation," they're referring to "the occupation" of the whole of Israel.

The Unhappiest Place on Earth?
I learned via this news story that there's an entity called "Somaliland."
What's that?
Think of it as a jihadist Disneyland (whose catchy slogan is "There is no God but God. Muhammad is the messenger of God."), only without the rides, restaurants, perambulating Disney characters and long line ups of parents and kids clamoring to get inside, and with sharia.
Lots and lots of sharia.

Obama's Surveillance Hanky-Panky Didn't Start With Trump
The Obama team gathering surveillance info to use against Trump?
That's crazy talk, right?
Not so fast, says Lee Smith, who notes that that's exactly what happened to Israeli operatives in the lead up to the Obamanable nuke deal:
That's crazy talk, right?
Not so fast, says Lee Smith, who notes that that's exactly what happened to Israeli operatives in the lead up to the Obamanable nuke deal:
In a December 29, 2015 article, The Wall Street Journal described how the Obama administration had conducted surveillance on Israeli officials to understand how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials, like Ambassador Ron Dermer, intended to fight the Iran Deal. The Journal reported that the targeting “also swept up the contents of some of their private conversations with U.S. lawmakers and American-Jewish groups.”
Despite this reporting, it seemed inconceivable at the time that—given myriad legal, ethical, political, and historical concerns, as well as strict National Security Agency protocols that protect the identity of American names caught in intercepts—the Obama White House would have actually spied on American citizens. In a December 31, 2016, Tablet article on the controversy, “Why the White House Wanted Congress to Think It Was Being Spied on By the NSA,” I argued that the Obama administration had merely used the appearance of spying on American lawmakers to corner opponents of the Iran Deal. Spying on U.S. citizens would be a clear abuse of the foreign-intelligence surveillance system. It would be a felony offense to leak the names of U.S. citizens to the press.
Increasingly, I believe that my conclusion in that piece was wrong. I believe the spying was real and that it was done not in an effort to keep the country safe from threats—but in order to help the White House fight their domestic political opponents.Sounds plausible to me.
