An event is being planned for Thursday to honour Attiwapiskat Chief Theresa Spence at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa, even as talks to resolve her six-week hunger protest have intensified over the past 48 hours. 

The "honouring" event, as it's being described by the host Nishnawbe Aski Nation, may signal an impending end to Spence's liquid diet, which she has said weakened her and lowered her blood pressure. 

Spence, who has been subsisting on fish broth and medicinal tea since Dec. 11, is examining ways to return to her home and nurse herself back to health, multiple sources have told The Canadian Press...

As to visiting as an Israeli, again, I just don’t see the point. The discourse is owned by anti-Israel voices. They don’t make arguments to spur thought, but to end it, by appealing to people’s passions.

She's right. A nation where the George Galloway view of things is the norm--why would any Jew want to live/visit there?

McDonald's Dinged for Misrepresenting Non-Halal McNuggets as Halal

DEARBORN, Mich. — McDonald's Corp. and a franchise owner have reached a tentative settlement in a lawsuit alleging that food at a Detroit-area restaurant with a large Muslim customer base wasn't prepared according to Islamic dietary laws as advertised.  

McDonald's and Finley's Management Co. agreed Friday to pay $700,000. The money will be shared by Dearborn Heights resident Ahmed Ahmed, a Detroit health clinic, the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn and lawyers.

Ahmed's attorney, Kassem Daklallah, told The Associated Press on Monday that he's "thrilled" with the preliminary deal. McDonald's and Finley's Management deny any liability but say the settlement is in their best interests...
