It Depends on What Your Definition of 'Victory' Is

Sentator Pamela Wallin, writing in the National Post, says Afghanistan is "winnable". As evidence, she offers these purportedly impressive stats:
By July 1 of this year, Canada had already achieved or surpassed many of our 2011 targets:
-We reached 100% of our goal for training of corrections officers and managers

-Twenty-three thousand and five hundred Afghans had received literacy training, compared to the 2011 target of 20,000

-More than 5,000 Afghans had received vocational training; the 2011 target was 1,070

Wow. That is impressive. Now all we have to do is crush the Taliban and remove sharia law from the Afghanistan constitution.

But maybe you and me have a different idea about what a real win would look like, Pam.
