Egypt's State-Owned Newpaper Repeats Tired Old "Masonic Plot" Trope

As I've told my son, any time someone puts the words "Jews" and Freemasons" together in a sentence, you can immediately discount anything that person has to say. A case in point, an article in Egypt's state newspaper that came to the attention of blogger Elder of Ziyon:
“Freemasonry started in Egypt in the late 18th century and, we are told, it is manipulated by Jews to create Israel and to ultimately build a new Temple,” the article states, according to a translation provided by Elder of Ziyon. “The Jews place Freemasons in major political roles to guide all nations towards their nefarious goals. The Jewish love of money also contributes to their decadence.”
The article goes to great lengths to provide “back up” for its theories, quoting several university professors, some of whom teach subjects relevant to Israeli and Jewish culture such as Hebrew literature.
“One of the ‘experts’ being interviewed is not certain that the Protocols [of the Elders of Ziyon] are used by the Freemasons, and he says that some Freemasons might not be Zionist. But the professor of Hebrew literature at Ain Shams University says that the Jews are definitely the beneficiaries of the Masonic plots, though,” Elder of Ziyon reports.
If I'm the beneficiary of Masonic plots, I wonder where my paycheck is (because so far it hasn't come).
