November 17, 2011"Everyone" my dimpled kafir arse. That's casting far too wide a net. No, he is--specifically and in particular--an unrepentant jihadi who has the great good fortune to be a Canadian citizen.
Society and Security Lecture Series - Audrey Macklin (U of T)
Omar Khadr: The Making of a Pariah and the Unmaking of Citizenship
Time: Thursday, November 17 - 12:00 - 1:30 PM
Location: Room 7-162, OISEWho is Omar Khadr? Under international law, he was a child soldier. According to the United States, he was an alien unprivileged enemy combatant. According to the Canadian government, he is a terrorist. Under Canadian law, he is a citizen. And according to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, he is everyone, as in "everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person, and right not to be deprived thereof, except in accordance with fundamental justice". Prof. Macklin's lecture will critically analyse the various subject positions assigned to Omar Khadr through law and public discourse.
His gain; our loss.

Please remember the rule, Scaramouche: "Persons of color" are always virtuous, whether serving tasty falafels, selling carpets with intricate patterns, flying passenger jets into skyscrapers, lobbing missiles into southern--or northern--Israel, setting IEDs in Iraq or Afghanistan . . . whatever.
I'll try to remember that, CP.

I think you may have a point there, BCF.
U of T donors should make a symbolic gesture saying that none of their money can be used for OISE
