I believe that anyone that uses or describes someone like Obama as "Machiavellian" has never read "The Prince". Most people focus on the negative connotations of the book and fail to see that there's a lot of good rules on how to be a ruler. Yes he did say "It's better to be feared then loved", but it's one of those quotes that's taken out of context. It was used for a weak leader when only fear was strong enough to enforce his will on the people.
