Major Dr. Hasan is going to be charged with a whole new slew of charges involving all those he wounded during his shooting spree who didn't die. That's in addition to facing charges for those he killed. The shrink's lawyer professes to be completely surprised by the this turn of events and, as he tells ABC News, he's concerned that--now, how did he put it? oh, yeah--"at this point, it's almost impossible for us to expect a presumption of innocence and right to due process out of the Fort Hood legal community and commanders." (My emphasis.)
My understanding of legal niceties may be lacking, but it seems to me that, new charges or no new charges, it's going to be awfully hard to presume Hasan "innocent" when A) all those people saw him open fire and B) he was heard to shout "Allahu Akbar" prior to unloading his load.
