The Flaw in Obama's Military Plans (One of 'Em, Anyway)
I heard Chuck Hagel and General Martin Dempsey tell the Senate Armed Services Committee that the optics will be so much better if the Free Syrian Army and other locals fight ISIS/IL while the U.S. stands back and assumes an advisory/training role (because it will be seen as Muslims fighting Muslims, not Americans fighting Muslims). The problem with that line of thinking: these U.S.-trained forces will be seen by ISIS and other Muslims (some of the jihadish persuasion, some not) as American proxies/lackies. Hard to see much benefit accruing to the U.S. from that.
