Holy Crap! Another Archbish of Squish Muddies the Waters Re the Jihad
The latest Archbishop of Canterbury tap dances around the words "Islam" and "jihad" as he strives to complicate and obfuscate concepts that are dead simple:
Speaking to me after an interfaith vigil for peace in Iraq, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby deplored the lack of a global strategy from world leaders for what he said could not be understood as a local problem.
“[extremist activity] is happening in Iraq, it’s happening as we speak in northern Nigeria, it’s happening in many other parts of the world. This is not a local issue.
“We can’t just take one place and then think we’ve dealt with it – it’s a Hydra with many heads
True enough. So what clarity can you bring to the topic of jihad and the reason it holds such great appeal these day, Archbish?
According to the Archbishop, it is a “misshapen presentation of faith”.
“It is a distortion, but a distortion that has a simplicity, and that simplicity appears to have attracted some people and we need to counter that .. by giving people a purpose in life that is different from that obscene and terrible simplicity.”
Actually, his claim that it's a distortion and an oversimplification--that's the distortion. The reality is that there's nothing at all complicated about "jihad is the way, sharia is the goal, dying for the sake of Allah is highest aspiration." In fact, its very clarity and simplicity is a large part of its appeal, even if squishy interfaith kafirs can't see it and do their utmost to try to insert "complexity" and "nuance" because they think it's the "nice" thing to do.
